Comment in test cases

Effective collaboration is crucial during the review process when multiple team members are involved in working on the same test cases. The commenting feature in the Test Case Details view is designed to facilitate communication and ensure that every team member stays informed and engaged.

Add a Comment

Adding a comment to a test case is a straightforward way to share feedback, ask questions, or keep everyone on the same page. Follow these steps to add a comment:

  1. Navigate and select the specific test case you want to comment on.
  2. Type your message in the comment field labeled Comment or tag others with @.

Type your comment in the field

To tag and notify a specific team member, type @ followed by their username and select them from the list.

  3. When your comment is ready, click Comment.

By following these steps, you ensure that your input is documented and visible to all team members involved in the test case.

Formatting and additional features

To make your comments more impactful and easy to understand, you can take advantage of the formatting options available:

Formatting options in comment field

  • Bold, Italic, Underline (see annotation 1): Highlight important text by applying bold, italic, or underline formatting.
  • Insert images (see annotation 2): Add visual elements to your comments by including images.
  • Code snippets (see annotation 3): Share code examples directly within your comments using the code snippet option.
  • Ordered and Unordered lists (see annotation 4): Organize information clearly using bullet points or numbered lists.

Utilizing these features helps ensure that your comments are not only seen but also easily understood and actionable.

Manage comments: Edit and Delete

The commenting feature provides the flexibility to modify or remove your comments, ensuring they remain relevant and up-to-date. Here is how you can manage your comments:

  1. In a test case, find the comment you want to edit or delete.
  2. Click three-dot menu next to the comment.

    Click edit comment or delete

  3. Edit or Delete:
    • To Edit: Select Edit Comment, make your changes, and click Update to save them.
    • To Delete: Select Delete and confirm the deletion in the dialog box that appears.

By effectively managing your comments, you contribute to a clean, organized, and accurate flow of communication within your team.

Notifications

For every comment added to a test case:

  • The owner of the test case will receive an email notification.
  • If a user is tagged in the comment, they will also receive an email notification.

This ensures that all relevant parties are promptly informed, helping to keep the communication flow uninterrupted.
