Manage test results in Jira app
The BrowserStack integration for Jira app simplifies your workflow by allowing you to manage defects logged from Test Management. These defects are automatically reflected in Jira issues, enabling two-way synchronization between test results and their corresponding Jira defects. By establishing this linkage, your teams can track, manage, and resolve defects more efficiently, maintaining clear visibility into which Test Runs and Test Cases those defects originated from.
When you log a defect against a specific test result in a test run, the following occurs:
-
Defect is created/linked in Jira A Jira defect (issue) is either created or linked to the test result within Test Management.
-
Link Test Results table in Jira
Within the Jira defect, a dedicated Test Results table is displayed. This table contains the following information about the associated test result, ensuring that the defect is clearly traceable to its origin.- Test Run ID: Unique identifier for the test run.
- Test Run Name: Name of the test run containing the defect.
- Test Case Title: Hyperlinked to the original test run’s test case detail view in the Test Management.
-
Configuration: Test environment configuration details (or
-
if not applicable). - Test Result: The outcome of the test run. For example, Passed or Failed.
- Notes: Option to view additional details about the defect via a pop-up.
-
Real-time synchronization
Any relevant updates on the test result (e.g., status changes or additional notes) appear in the linked test results table in Jira. Conversely, any updates in Jira (such as defect status changes) are reflected back in Test Management.
You cannot currently edit linked test run results from the Jira app.
