Geo Region Restriction (GRR) for Test Management

Geo Region Restriction (GRR) lets you control where your Test Management data is stored. If enabled, your test data will reside in a specific geographic region, ensuring compliance with data residency regulations and your organization’s internal policies.

Data Covered by GRR

GRR covers the majority of your core test data within BrowserStack Test Management, ensuring it remains within your chosen region and is not accessible from other regions. This includes:

• Test Case Data
   Details of your test cases, including steps, expected results, and related information.
• Test Execution Data
  Results and logs from your test runs, including pass/fail status and screenshots.
• Project and Team Data
   Information about your projects, team members, and how tests are organized.
• Attachments
   Images and files uploaded as part of your tests are stored within the designated region and are subject to GRR restrictions.
• Data Validation
  Any data created, modified, edited, or archived in your chosen region will remain exclusively within that region.
• Data Redirection
  Suppose GRR is enabled, and you attempt to access Test Management from a location outside your designated region. In that case, you will be redirected to the corresponding Test Management site for your region. This redirection is based on your GRR settings, not your physical location.

Data Not Covered by GRR

The following data types are not currently included in GRR restrictions:

• Usage Analytics
   Aggregated, anonymized data about product usage patterns.
• Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
   Usernames and email addresses used for authentication. This data is kept separate for security purposes and is not shared.
• Payment and Billing Data
   Financial information related to your account.
• AI Features and Third-Party Integrations
   Data related to AI-powered features and third-party integrations may be subject to their own data handling policies.

GRR Supported Regions

Currently, Test Management supports GRR for the following region:

• European Union (EU)

Additional Considerations

• GRR currently only applies to BrowserStack Test Management. If you use other BrowserStack products, their data residency may differ.
• GRR is specifically designed for test data generated and managed within Test Management.
• Some features, like the Observability and accessibility tools, may not be available if GRR is enabled, as this would require data to leave the designated region.
• Test case data shared with our AI team for analysis purposes is excluded from GRR for organizations with GRR enabled.
