Filter Test Cases
Advanced filtering in Test Management for Test Cases allows you to narrow down Test Cases based on specific criteria. It empowers you to identify relevant Test Cases quickly.
Follow these steps to filter the Test Cases:
- Select the Test Cases tab in the project dashboard.
-
Click Filter at the top right of the screen.
-
Select the relevant test case folders under the Folder filter.
- To refine test cases, configure the filter criteria based on your needs:
- Choose the relevant criteria in the available filter panels (see annotation 1).
- Select values in each filter panel to specify your filtering preferences (see annotation 2).
- Use the Match filters option at the top of the filter panel to set how filter conditions should combine (see annotation 3). Learn more about matching filter criteria.
- Click Apply.
You can see only the test cases that meet your filter criteria.
You can also filter Test Runs based on similar filter criteria.
Match all or any filters
The Match filters option allows you to define how multiple filter criteria are combined when filtering test cases.
Match filters (across different fields)
Choose one of the following:
-
Match all filters (default):
Test cases returned must satisfy all selected filter conditions (AND logic). Example: If you select filters for Priority as High and Type as Functional, only test cases marked as both High Priority and Functional Type appear.
-
Match any filter:
Test cases returned satisfy at least one of the selected filter conditions (OR logic).
Example: If you select filters for Priority as High and Type as Functional, the results are include test cases marked either High Priority or Functional Type or both.
Multi-select fields filtering
For fields supporting multiple selections (multi-select), you have additional filtering options:
-
Contain all values: Includes only test cases that contain every one of the values you selected.
-
Contain any one value (default): Includes test cases matching at least one of the values chosen.
-
Does not contain any value: Excludes test cases containing any of the chosen values.
Example: For a multi-select custom field Browser Compatibility, if you select Chrome and Firefox:
- Contain all values: Shows test cases supporting Chrome and Firefox.
- Contain any one value: Shows only test cases that match at least one of the specified values i.e Chrome and Firefox.
- Does not contain any value: Excludes test cases supporting either Chrome or Firefox.
Single-select and system fields filtering
For custom fields and system fields (single-select dropdown, boolean, integer, string, or user), you can use:
- Contain any one value (default): Includes test cases matching at least one of the values selected.
- Does not contain any value: Excludes test cases matching the selected values.
Example: Filtering the Automation Status (a system field):
- Any one: Choosing Automated returns all automated test cases.
- None: Choosing Automated excludes all automated test cases.
Folder filtering always uses AND logic, regardless of the chosen Match filters settings.
