Manage devices on BrowserStack’s Private Devices offering

BrowserStack’s Device Management Dashboard helps admins efficiently allocate, monitor, and optimize device usage, ensuring seamless testing workflows and enhanced productivity.

Access the Device Management Dashboard

  1. Login to your BrowserStack account.

  2. Click on your profile icon and select Account & Profile or User Management.

  3. Hover over the Device Management dropdown and select Device Management to access the Device Management Dashboard. You will see the list of devices that are available for you.

Features of the Device Management Dashboard

The following are the key features of the Device Management Dashboard:

  • Device overview:

    • Track active users, device statuses (Available, Blocked, Offline, Cleaning), and details like model, UDID, and SIM information.

    • Filter devices by OS type, status, allocated team, and region on the dashboard.

  • Team creation and device assignment: Create teams, allocate devices to teams, and manage shared pools.

  • Device redistribution: Reallocate devices between teams based on availability and testing needs.

  • Tester efficiency monitoring: Assess tester performance and device usage to ensure optimal resource utilization.

User roles and access permissions

Device allocation is based on user roles. Here’s a summary of access levels:

User Type Sub-Type Access Level Behavior
User Group user Read only - Users who are not part of any team can view shared pool devices only.
- Cannot allocate or deallocate devices.
  Team user Read only - Users who are part of a team can view shared pool devices and devices assigned to their team.
- Cannot allocate or deallocate devices.
Admin/Owner Group owner Read & write - Part of the organization. Can view shared pool devices and devices allocated to all teams.
- Can allocate/deallocate devices.
- Can update device cleanup preferences.
  Group admin Read & write - Part of the organization. Can view shared pool devices and devices allocated to all teams.
- Can allocate/deallocate devices.
- Can update device cleanup preferences.
  Team Admin Read - Can view shared pool devices and devices allocated to all teams.
- Cannot allocate or deallocate devices.
