Deprecation of desktop app for App Performance testing

We are incredibly fortunate to have such an innovative and engaged user community that inspires our continuous evolution. With a free desktop app, we embarked on a journey to help you tackle testing challenges in App Performance testing. Thanks to your invaluable feedback, we developed a well-integrated web version of our App Performance testing features.

This strategic move has led to phenomenal growth in our web version. The adoption of App Performance testing within App Live and App Automate has soared, and each new feature launch in the web version has been met with increasing excitement and enthusiasm.

We’re thrilled to report that nearly all of our users have naturally transitioned from the desktop app to the web version, where the feature set is richer and workflows are seamlessly integrated with our App Live and App Automate products.

In light of these positive developments, we’ve made the strategic decision to deprecate the desktop app and focus our investments on the web version of App Performance testing. We are deeply grateful to all our users who embraced the desktop app and provided feedback.

Key timelines

Here are the key timelines for this transition:

• Effective immediately, new installations of the desktop app will be disabled.
• After July 15, 2024, we will no longer address support queries related to the desktop app.
• After August 31, 2024, existing installations of the desktop app will cease to function.

We recognize that the desktop app has been a free service for all BrowserStack users, regardless of their product or plan. If this decision impacts you, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager before July 15, 2024.
