Share accessibility test reports with external users
Improve collaboration and productivity by sharing accessibility test reports with users outside your organization
For various reasons, you have to sometimes share your accessibility reports with:
- Members of your organization (for instance, developers and leaders) who do not have a BrowserStack account
- Stakeholders outside your organization
For example, you may want to share reports for timely fixing of issues. Also, sharing reports is key to building stakeholder trust.
To share reports, you have to activate report sharing via public link. You can do that only if you have run the tests (Workflow analyzer, Assisted test, Website scanner, or Automated tests) yourself. That is, if you are the author.
By default, public sharing of reports is enabled for organzations. If your organization does not want public sharing of reports, contact support.
If public sharing is disabled for your organization, you see the following message when trying to activate report sharing:
Public sharing of reports is disabled for your organisation. Contact your admin to enable public sharing.
To enable the feature again, contact support.
Once the report author enables public sharing of a report, author or other members (non-authors) in the organization can share that report externally.
When a non-author tries to share a report that is not yet activated for public sharing, they see the following message:
Public sharing for this report is currently disabled and needs to be enabled by the report author.
Steps to share a report externally
Follow these steps to share a report with external users:
- On a report page, click Share.
A two-tab window appears. - Open Share via public link.
- Activate report sharing using the Enable public link switch.
- Click Copy public link, and share as appropriate.
With this link, people who do not have a BrowserStack account can view the report.
Steps to disable public sharing
After you or other users in your team share the public link to a report, the link stays valid until you disable public sharing.
Follow these steps to disable a public link:
- Go to the report for which you have activated public link.
- On the report page, click Share.
- Open Share via public link.
Public link is already activated for the report and a link is available for copying. - Deactivate the public link.
You are prompted to confirm that you want to disable the link indeed. - Click Disable link.
The public link disappears. Anyone who tries to access the earlier link sees a 404 HTTP error.
After you deactivate a public link, if you activate public link for the same report again, a new link is generated.
