How to Use APK File on iOS Device

By Sandra Felice, Community Contributor -

iOS and Android are built on fundamentally different ecosystems, making it impossible to run APK files—designed for Android—directly on iOS devices. However, alternative methods exist to access apps exclusively available as APK files.

Step-by-Step Guide on How to Use APK File on iOS Device

Here’s a guide to help you navigate these options effectively:

1. Look for the iOS Alternative in the App Store

Before attempting any advanced methods, check if the app you want is already available for iOS:

Step 1: Open the Apple App Store on your iOS device.

Step 2: Search for the app by name.

Step 3: If the app has an iOS version (IPA), download and install it directly.

2. Use Third-Party App Installers

If the app is unavailable in the App Store, you can use third-party app installers to sideload an equivalent app or convert APK files into a compatible format.

Steps to Use a Third-Party App Installer:

  1. Choose a Reliable Installer
  2. Download the installer directly onto your iOS device.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the app on your iOS device or computer.
  4. Browse or Upload the App
    • If using a mobile installer, browse for the app or IPA version you want.
    • If using a computer-based tool, connect your iOS device and upload the IPA file.
  5. Sign in with your Apple ID when prompted.
  6. Navigate to Settings > General > Device Management, select the app’s developer certificate, and tap Trust.

3. Use Emulators or Mirroring Apps

If sideloading or jailbreaking seems too complicated, try running Android apps via emulators or screen mirroring tools.

Option 1: Use Android Emulators on iOS

  • Download an Android emulator like iAndroid (note: emulators often require jailbreaking).
  • Install the emulator on your jailbroken iOS device.
  • Use the emulator to run APK files.

Option 2: Use Screen Mirroring Tools

If you have an Android device available, you can mirror its screen to your iOS device.

  1. Install a Mirroring App on both devices.
  2. Pair the Android and iOS devices through the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Launch the app and start mirroring the Android screen to your iOS device.
  4. Run APK Apps on the Mirrored Screen.
