Tell us a bit about your role as the Software Development Engineer in Test at American Express.

My role at American Express is both challenging and rewarding, offering me the freedom to implement and explore new technologies while continuously growing in my career. It’s a dynamic position that keeps me engaged and excited about the endless possibilities in software testing.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting their career in software testing?

For anyone starting in software testing, my advice is simple: have a passion for testing and experimenting with new tech stacks. This drive to learn and explore will fuel your growth and keep you at the forefront of the industry.

Staying current is all about being active in test communities, attending meet-ups and conferences, and networking with other professionals. These connections are invaluable for learning about the latest trends and tools in the field.

What’s a testing trend that’s got you excited these days?

Right now, I’m excited about the different methods of testing, whether it’s automation or functional testing. There’s so much to learn in both areas, and it’s inspiring to see the innovative ways testing is evolving.

Has AI changed the way you and your team approach testing? If so, how?

Yes, AI has definitely impacted our approach to testing. We’re currently exploring how AI models can be tested effectively, and tools like GitHub Copilot are enhancing our productivity by streamlining tasks and providing valuable assistance in coding.

Looking back, what's the biggest shift your team has made in testing, and what impact did it have?

One of the biggest shifts our team made was embracing new tech stacks, which has significantly reduced manual efforts. This shift has not only saved time but also allowed us to focus more on strategic tasks, greatly enhancing our overall productivity.

What are your go-to productivity hacks that help you stay on top of your game?

My productivity hacks are straightforward but effective: frequent communication, focused work sessions, and above all, approaching every task with passion and commitment. These habits keep me motivated and ensure that I’m always learning and growing.
